Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Eric! (he/him)

As a proud gay person, my mission is to help others understand how to support my community.

With a master’s in LGBTQ+ Psychology, I know that creating belonging at work leads to increased mental health and enhances workplace culture.

I’ve seen so many times how people embrace a group once they are given a chance to learn about them, and I’m so here for helping your team become better Allies!

“Eric is such a joy to collaborate and consult with. His overall demeanor is energizing and refreshing and his LGBTQ+ advocacy is expansive and comprehensive. I've always appreciated his generous, thoughtful, and intentional approach to providing feedback.”

Alandria M. (she/they)

“Eric is incredibly professional and knowledgeable about working with the LGBTQ+ population. He has a great sense of humor and is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend his services.”

Emily F. (she/her)

You might be thinking…

“This training sounds awesome, but I’m worried some of my staff will refuse to take it.”

Social acceptance for LGBTQ+ people is higher than ever before, and it only continues to grow each year. While most people are here for equality, it’s possible that some of your employees might say that supporting the community conflicts with their values and not want to take the training.

It might sound counter-intuitive, but you can start by validating the person’s concern, without co-signing it. Be clear that people are welcome to maintain their personal beliefs, but the expectation (or even better, the requirement) is to participate.

It helps if your organization’s values and mission statement speak to equality for everyone. If your non-discrimination policy explicitly offers protections based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, it gives you further backing. And staunch support for DEI initiatives from the people at the top of the company is essential.

Luckily, opposition to LGBTQ+ training within the workplace tends to be minimal, but it’s helpful to have these suggestions in mind in case it happens.
